Garden Route to Grow Greener with Reliance Compost

Reliance, the leading organic compost provider in the Western Cape, are thrilled to announce the opening of their new depot in George. Situated opposite Kraaibosch Nursery, the depot will supply certified organic compost and product mixes to the Garden Route’s green industry, offering the highest quality and service that Reliance is well known for.

Over the past 16 years, Reliance has changed the views and methodologies around organic waste.  More than 17 million cubic meters of the City of Cape Town’s green garden and park waste has been diverted from landfills and transformed into over 1 000 000 tons of organic compost. Reliance is a proud product supplier to all top landscaping companies, and projects throughout the Western Cape, as well significant farming companies from Cape Town to the Orange River.

Founder of Reliance Compost, Eddie Redelinghuys says, ‘For years the Garden Route had to contend with compost with the wrong Carbon to Nitrogen ratio due to the high levels of wood waste in local compost. This leading to nitrogen depletion from soils and yellowing of young plants. Feeding the soils with Reliance compost products will result in healthier soils and healthier plants.’

Reliance products are available in bags and bulk sizes to the Garden Route trade and public market. Look out for the newly launched Reliance Premium bagged range now with added Zeolite + Seaweed extract. The products available in this range are Reliance Soil & Plant Conditioner, Potting Mix and Lawn Dressing. The Premium Range benefits include more efficient nutrient uptake by plant roots, greater root development, as well as improves drought tolerance to name but a few.

As one of only a few South African carbon neutral businesses, Reliance has had its composting technology approved as a Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction method, and over the years prevented more than 800 000 tons of carbon dioxide gas escaping into the atmosphere – a substantial contribution to reducing the impact caused by climate change. The company’s mission is to Grow Greener Generations, and it does this by getting involved in the community, through sponsorships, tree-planting projects and developing communal food gardens.  No surprise either that much of the company’s income is ploughed back into the community to build sustainable environments.

Reliance Garden Route is conveniently situated on the N2 between George and Wilderness, trading Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00pm. For more information visit Reliance Garden Route at www.reliance.co.za or contact the local agent, Anthony on 083 381 9615 or at gardenroute@reliance.co.za.
