Walking among art and strolling through greenery are two activities that many people find especially soul-soothing, so the new Lizamore Sculpture Garden at the Clairvaux Lifestyle Estate in Robertson has to offer one of the most relaxing and enriching of experiences.

The mesmerising project was curated by Teresa Lizamore from Joburg-based gallery Lizamore & Associates as part of the greater renovation of the estate undertaken by the Ceramic Factory, and it brings a broad mishmash of sculptural artworks together in a beautiful outdoor environment.
‘Cool or Not Cool’ by Collen Maswanganyi
The thinking behind the establishment of this oasis was to bring contemporary art further out into the Boland to ensure that it reaches and inspires a wider audience. While the exhibition is set to change from time to time, the opening display includes fascinating works by a number of celebrated local artists, like Collen Maswanganyi, Hannelie Coetzee, Strijdom van der Merwe, Uwe Pfaff and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren.
‘The Three Pigs: Gluttony, Stupidity and Lack of Foresight’ by Carrol Hammon
The mix varies widely from fun, playful pieces to those that make a strong social comment, so visitors of all sorts and tastes will no doubt find something that intrigues them. Over time the perennial and seasonal plants that have been sown here will grow up and around the art scattered across the plot and make the concept even more enchanting than it is now.

You’ll find the Lizamore@Clairvaux garden at the Clairvaux Estate just off the R60 as you enter Robertson and entrance is free.
